Description

VERSAILLES CASTLE & GIVERNY MUSEUM – PRIVATE GUIDED TOUR (9 Hours)

Code : VEGI/09H

During this 9-hour tour you will start with a morning visit of the Versailles Castle :

– The Apartments of the King and Queen : the King’s Grand Apartment was composed of 7 luxuriously and finely decorated lounge rooms (the Salon of Abundance, the Salons of Hercules, Venus, Diane, March and Mercury). These splendid rooms once hosted the official ceremonies of the monarch. The Queen’s Grand Apartment consists of 4 rooms: the Chamber of the Queen, the Noblemen Salon, the Antichambre du Grand Couvert and the Room of the Guards.

– The Gallery of Mirrors : 73 meters long, the Gallery of Mirrors was occupied by the King’s courtiers and important visitors. Up to today, the French President receives official guests in this prestigious Gallery.

– The Gardens : built and designed by André Le Nôtre and Charles Le Brun, the gardens took around 40 years to be shaped.

After some free time for lunch, you will be driven to the Giverny Museum for the second part of the excursion. You will visit :

– The House and Gardens of Claude Monet : Impressionist painter Claude Monet lived there from 1883 to 1926. The two floored house revives the painter’s everyday life, along with his eight children. But it is the unsurpassed beauty of the Giverny flower and water gardens that will delight you. The painter continually worked on these gardens, and painted them, all throughout his life.

– The Giverny Impressionist Museum : this splendid museum reviews the history of Impressionism and of the later painters the movement inspired, up to the second half of the 20th century.
